“Fin dall’inizio di questo progetto ho sentito di doverlo chiamare A Beautiful World, perché stavo scoprendo nuovi tipi di bellezza in luoghi che non avevo mai guardato prima…”
Con queste parole Mario Testino, uno dei più celebri fotografi contemporanei a livello internazionale descrive il suo progetto A Beautiful World. La mostra, inaugurata il 25 maggio a Roma a Palazzo Buonaparte, è frutto di sette anni di ricerca e sperimentazione in giro per il mondo, che lo ha portato a focalizzare la sua attenzione su un nuovo percorso creativo, trovando ispirazione nelle identità culturali dei Paesi in cui aveva ambientato i suoi servizi di moda già dal 2007.

Dal 2017 il fotografo peruviano ha attraversato più di 30 Paesi, concentrando la sua arte sull’esplorazione dell’unicità culturale e tradizionale che ancora si trova in un mondo rapidamente globalizzato. A Beautiful World è il viaggio straordinario di Testino tra le complessità e i contrasti dei nostri molteplici modi di appartenere: individualità e conformismo, comunità, rituali, idee del sé, simboli e sistemi di credenze. Sono oltre settanta le opere in mostra, che spaziano dai ritratti a momenti di vita quotidiana, unite idealmente dalla varietà di tessuti e abiti indossati dai soggetti. Il risultato finale è una visione al tempo stesso personale e universale della meraviglia che ci circonda.

Mario Testino OBE (Order of the British Empire), nasce a Lima in Perù nel 1954, con origini irlandesi e italiane. Si trasferisce a Londra nel 1976 dove presto diventa uno dei fotografi di moda e ritrattisti più innovativi della sua generazione, e le sue fotografie vengono pubblicate sulle principali riviste di moda del mondo. Punto di riferimento di altissimo rilievo nell’arte della moda, le sue immagini sono diventate leggendarie come le persone che ha fotografato, da Kate Moss a Madonna, da Naomi Campbell a Diana Princess of Wales.
La mostra è prodotta e organizzata da Arthemisia in collaborazione con Domus Artium Reserve, con il supporto dell’Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, invece gli sponsor sono Art Partner e Generali Valore Cultura, media partner Urban Vision e la Repubblica e mobility partner Frecciarossa Treno Ufficiale e Atac. Actually, Australia is a real melting pot, a big, wonderful continent where plenty of different cultures, languages, customs live together. In the “down under” the idea of “traditional cuisine” as we Italians know it, doesn’t exist. To be honest, due to the globalization, this concept is getting more abstract by us too…

All over the world the Pavlova cake is recognized as the national australian dessert (even if New Zealander say they invented it!). But we wanted to make an easier dessert, so we decided to make Lamingtons. So, on January 26th, while we will eat our dessert in our warm houses, drinking a hot tea, Australians will have their Lamingtons after a bbq in the backyard or on the beach!
