Il mondo è pieno di rottami, sporcizia, case abbandonate, lamiere buttate, plastica.

Ogni volta che si intraprende un viaggio si viene messi di fronte a situazioni che hanno dell’incredibile e dove lo sprezzo umano non ha limiti.

Purtroppo nessuno cura questo pianeta che ci accoglie ogni giorno con amore e pazienza, non sappiamo apprezzare la natura che ci circonda e soprattutto capire quanto siamo fortunati a vivere su questa terra dove abbiamo a disposizione acqua, aria, sole, terra.

Continuiamo da arroganti a creare ferite, a distruggerla, a rovinarla.

La plastica o meglio i sacchetti di plastica sono ovunque e deturpano gli oceani, i deserti, le strade.
Qualcuno ci mette sull’avviso, ma se non acquisiamo rispetto per un dono, difficilmente sapremo accogliere un consiglio.

La terrà è qui per noi e per cercare di farci vivere al meglio. A volte si ribella, è vero, ma solo perché non abbiamo saputo ascoltarla.

Eppure la natura continua a sorprenderci e ad adattarsi a qualsiasi situazione, a inglobare in se stessa tutto ciò che noi buttiamo.

La foto di oggi è un esempio di uno scempio umano trasformato in qualcosa di incredibile poiché il deserto, in questo caso, ha accolto il rottame di questo furgone e ha creato la vita attorno ad esso. Una dimostrazione di come la natura sa rigenerarsi, ma questo non significa che dobbiamo continuare a metterla alla prova.

Tutti gli anni viene festeggiato l’Earth Day (la Giornata della Terra) con una manifestazione ambientale del pianeta, l’unico momento in cui tutti i cittadini del mondo si uniscono per celebrare la Terra e promuoverne la salvaguardia.

Una bella, bellissima iniziativa, ma un giorno è una goccia nel mare, dovremmo pensare che ogni singolo giorno è la Giornata della Terra!

Possano arrivare giorni pacifici e gioiosi, per la nostra bella navicella spaziale Terra, che continua a correre e a girare per lo spazio freddo col suo caloroso e fragile carico di vita

Con queste parole, pronunciate il 21 marzo 1971, il Segretario Generale delle Nazioni Unite U Thant ufficializzava il patrocinio dell’ONU alla Giornata della Terra: Earth Day, la più grande celebrazione mondiale per la tutela e la salvaguardia del Pianeta celebrata in 192 paesi contemporaneamente (oltre 1,1 miliardi di persone).

Un po’ di storia
L’idea di istituire la Giornata della Terra venne per la prima volta al senatore statunitense Gaylord Nelson nel 1962.
Egli sollevò il tema delle questioni ambientali in una serie di conferenze che accesero l’interesse di importanti esponenti politici fra i quali vi era anche Robert Kennedy.
Nel 1969, in seguito a un disastro ambientale dovuto alla fuoriuscita di petrolio da un pozzo della Union Oil, a Santa Barbara, il tema conquistò l’attenzione mediatica globale dell’opinione pubblica.
Fu così che, Il 22 aprile 1970, 20 milioni di americani organizzarono delle manifestazioni per la tutela del pianeta (le manifestazioni furono organizzate per la maggior parte da gruppi ambientalisti di college e università).
Nasceva così il primo Earth Day della storia.
