Voglio cominciare l’anno con questo articolo della categoria “Off Topic”, raccontandovi dell’esperienza che abbiamo vissuto il mese scorso al Christmas Party organizzato dall’azienda dove lavora Vinz. Cominciamo gia’ col dire che ci siamo presentati un pochino in ritardo a causa del taxi che non trovava l’indirizzo di casa…ma questi son piccoli dettagli.

Il Pub dove siamo stati si chiama The Olive Mill e si trova in Bridgwater (England), posso dire che per la prima volta in quasi 3 anni che viviamo qui abbiamo mangiato divinamente!!! Cosa proprio da non credere…e non quell’odioso Fish and Chips che si trova nel 90% dei pub inglesi!

Il Menu’ comprendeva un antipasto al tavolo a base di “Baked Stuffed Mushrooms filled with feta cheese and baby spinach with a parmisan crust“. Questo piatto l’ho trovato davvero buonissimo! Sono funghi cucinati al forno ripieni di formaggio feta e spinaci con una crosta di scaglie di parmiggiano. Insomma una delizia! (Molto probabile postero’ la ricetta perche’ sono assolutamente da rifare!).
Poi il resto era tutto al Buffet e come scelta avevi: ” Traditional Roast Turkey & Mature Topside of Beef served from our carvery with roast potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding, sage & onion stuffing, pork sausage wrapped in bacon & a selection of festive vegetable accompaniments” . Qui sono stata un poco piu’ selettiva, non essendo molto amante del beef. Ho scelto il tacchino con le patate al forno (insomma le classiche nostrane), la salsiccia avvolta nel bacon (era deliziosa!) e poi ho voluto provare lo Yorkshire Pudding…che insomma qui ci dovrebbe essere un post a parte solo per sto coso! Insomma questo Yorkshire Pudding sono il contorno più inglese che ci sia!Si tratta di bocconcini a base di pastella che vengono serviti insieme a roastbeef e salsicce. La cosa e’ diventata divertente nel momento in cui ho chiesto a dei colleghi inglesi come si mangiasse, e loro da persone mature hanno cominciato a spiegarmi come mangiarlo nei modi piu’ assurdi! Addirittura di immergerlo nella salsa di cottura della carne con cui viene servito la carne e di succhiarlo. Insomma le risate non sono mancate! Poi come verdure natalizia c’erano uno stufato di broccoli e cavolfiori che sinceramente non mi attirava per nulla, oltre alle carote al vapore. Poi di nuovo al tavolo ci e’ stato servito il Dessert a base di “Warm Chocolate Fudge Cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream”….che dire ho amato questo dolce! Non nego che stavo per chiederne un bis! Questo pan di spagna morbidissimo al cioccolato con quella crema calda e il gelato freddo creavano un contrasto a dir poco golosissimo!

Ma per ultimo ma non meno importante: LO STAFF. I camerieri e il proprietario sono stati di una gentilezza e di una simpatia unica nonostante l’ora tarda! Ogni scusa era buona per dire almeno una parolina in italiano…ed e’ stato divertentissimo sentirmi dire mentre mi impattavano “MANGIA MANGIA“…non nego che mi sono sentita a casa durante i pranzi da mia mamma xDDD. Spero tantissimo di ritornaci presto, soprattutto perche’ ho intenzione di fare li la festa per il battesimo di Zelda. La cosa che un po’ mi e’ dispiaciuto e’ stato perdermi il panorama data l’ora tarda, perche’ questo pub e’ situata tra le campagne inglesi del Somerset. Che diciamolo…non e’ poco!
