Nella mostra sono esposti schizzi giovanili che riflettono lo stile distintivo di Albini, così come disegni di grande formato degli anni Settanta che comprendono non solo abiti, ma anche accessori, gioielli e dettagli delle acconciature. Inoltre sono presenti anche documenti fotografici, release delle sfilate, groupages pubblicitari e articoli appartenenti alla rassegna stampa del periodo. Precursore e fonte di tanti stilisti che si sono ispirati a lui per le loro creazioni, Albini ha ridefinito il rapporto tra abito e corpo, abito e industria e ha proposto una trasformazione epocale nel linguaggio della moda, contribuendo anche a ripensare il ruolo della donna nella società. 

Il disegno è fondamentale nel percorso creativo di Albini, strettamente legato alla cultura jugend, è influenzato a più riprese dalla grafia di Paul Poiret e dalla cultura Liberty. Una rilettura di Chanel si unisce alle esperienze grafiche del Bauhaus e del Costruttivismo. Nel percorso grafico, lungo un ventennio, le suggestioni parigine dei primi anni Trenta si alternano a motivi geometrici di chiara matrice viennese, unitamente a un chiaro riferimento alla cultura Déco. I disegni sono realizzati su supporti cartacei di fattura pregiata, tracciati a china, matita, matite colorate, pastello e pennarello, spesso caratterizzati dalla presenza di campionature di tessuto applicate al foglio, indicative della stretta relazione con la macchina industriale che contraddistingue la produzione in serie.

E rivelano una progettazione totale del look evidenziata dalla presenza sul foglio degli schizzi a china degli accessori, dei gioielli, delle spille, di dettagli di acconciature o altri particolari di elementi vestimentari. La dimensione maggiore del disegno fa sì che non sia ascrivibile alla cultura del figurino anni Cinquanta. La ricerca compiuta da Albini in merito alla scelta dei tessuti, alle modalità produttive legate alla produzione industriale, ha contribuito ad avvicinare la moda alle persone, al loro lavoro, congiuntamente ai cambiamenti culturali della Milano dei primi anni Settanta, attivando una vera e propria rivoluzione nell’ingranaggio produttivo.

La mostra è stata allestita nell’ambito del festival Il Rumore del Lutto, giunto alla XVIIma edizione, e della ormai consolidata collaborazione con l’Associazione di promozione sociale “Segnali di Vita”, ed è curata da Matilde Alghisi e Paola Pagliari.
